Another Family Trip

It’s summertime and that means another family trip. Every year it’s the same thang. I guess you could look at it as being nice haven' that kinda of consistency. It’s like clockwork. June is here, so we’re not.
We live in a small town in the South. I guess that’s why my parents always want to go and see someplace else. Unfortunately, we always have to take my dad’s dimwitted brother Ned and my grandma with us. Don’t get me wrong, I love Uncle Ned, but I just can’t handle hearin' the same stories repeated again and again this summer. We know how Uncle Ned got injured in the war and we don’t need to hear about it for hours on end. As for grama, I love her too but the old people smell gets a little….old.
The other thang about our summer trips is that they’re always in the car. We never fly anywhere. There are six of us all stuffed into my dad’s old, smelly '55 Chevy. We barely fit! Everyone's up in everyone elses business. It's just too close! The other part that I can't stand is the smell of my daddy's old tobacco and all the body odor. We don't got no air conditionin', and ya and just can't sit that close and not have someone get ta stinkin'. I just wish that one summer I could stay home and play with my frienz. Why do we always have to travel summer away?
I guess I’ll 'preciate all this travelin' when I get older. I can’t wait 'til that happens! For now I just have to sit in this car, smile and act like I’m excited about goin' to visit my other grama again, and goin' who knows where else this summer.
My mama's always sayin’ think of it as another adventure in your life. I’m hopin' that I don’t get so many adventures when I'm old. I'd like to stick aroun' home when I have some time off. I don’t want to be goin’ all over the world seein' thangs. I’ll be happy stayin’ just where I’m at.

The slang makes the piece have a more personal and memoir feel. Keep going with it!
