Program Proposal for Teachers
DUE October 1, 2007
Name of Lead Presenter: Tracy Butler
(Include other presenters in the program description below.)
Describe your proposal in 250 words or less. Please remember your
presentation will be scheduled for 45 minutes on Friday, January 25,
2008.
Abstract
Do you feel like your students lack tolerance and empathy for people that are different than themselves? Do you have trouble finding engaging ways to expose your students to other cultures? Then this is the demonstration for you! Teachers that have any type of diversity in their classroom and teachers of ESOL would benefit greatly from this presentation.
In this demonstration, you will learn a process that will allow your students to experience diversity, and teach them how to write “I Am”poems to help them experience someone else's perspective.
Together we can educate our youth about the wonderful cultures and people that are part of our world! Handouts will be given out, and there will be several interactive activities during the demo.

Well-worded and it will draw people to your demo. In your demo, I don't think that the "I Am" poem expresses students' feelings. It helps them walk in someone else's shoes.
